Two shot during domestic dispute in Norman business

NORMAN — A domestic dispute inside a business led to a co-worker being shot before the shooter was wounded with his own weapon Wednesday afternoon, police said.

About 2:30 p.m., officers responded to an active shooter call at Bergey WindPower Co., 2200 Industrial Blvd., where they found the two gunshot victims, Norman police spokeswoman Sarah Jensen said.

Neither of their names were released, and their conditions were not immediately available.

A co-worker attempted to break up the domestic dispute between a man and a woman and was shot.

Two dead in Norman crash

NORMAN — Two people died in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon.

About 12:30 p.m., an eastbound vehicle on State Highway 9 near 69th Avenue SE crossed the center line and hit a westbound vehicle.

Norman man ordered to trial in shooting death of daughter

NORMAN — A former high school cheerleader who was fatally shot in the face last year couldn't have inflicted the injury herself, a Norman police detective testified Monday.

The victim's father, Ronald Lee McMullen Jr., 43, of Norman, is charged with first-degree murder in the June 29 shooting death of Kailee McMullen, 22.

Name of woman who died in Pottawatomie County fire released

PINK — Authorities have released the identity of a woman who died Sunday in a mobile home fire south of Pink.

Mary Martindale, 59, died about 2:20 p.m., a state fire marshal's office spokesman reports.

Norman businesswomen to meet Tuesday

NORMAN — The Norman chapter of American Business Women's Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Louie's Grill, 3750 W Robinson in Brookhaven Shopping Center.

Daniel "D" Smith, afterschool director at Loveworks Leadership, will speak about the nonprofit.

The public is welcome to attend.

Veterans share Christmas lunch in Norman

NORMAN — Veterans at the Norman Veterans Center recently shared in a Christmas luncheon.

More than 20 veterans living at the facility donated funds for the meal and partnered with the Norman Rib Crib barbecue restaurant and the center's food service department to provide food and drinks for the holiday event.

Rib Crib provided veterans with ribs, chopped beef brisket and beans for a fraction of the usual cost, event organizer Rocky Remick said.

The Norman Veterans Center supplied buns, potato salad, cobbler and beverages for the event, event coordinator Mike Simmons said.

News events boost interest in Russian language

NORMAN — Few students have been as determined to learn Russian as University of Oklahoma junior David Louden, 21, who grew up in Noble, just south of Norman.

He had never met anyone who spoke the language.

While still in middle school, he taught himself the Russian alphabet after hearing the Russian-born American singer Regina Spektor performing the song “Apres Moi.”

“She sung a Russian poem in it.
