Sanitation services to stay on Schedule for Independence Day

The City of Norman sanitation services will maintain the regular schedule for the Independence Day holiday on Monday. Sanitation services include commercial and residential curbside waste collection, as well as recycling and yard waste.

Southbound Berry Road from Glenwood to Main Street to close Wednesday

Southbound Berry Road from Glenwood to Main Street will close at 8 a.m. Wednesday for construction of two new waterlines from Main to Robinson. Warning and detour signs will be placed to assist motorists. Southbound drivers are urged to use alternate routes such as Acres to Flood to Main to Berry during the construction which is expected to last through approximately August 6.

Mosquito Control Spray Scheduled for Saturday Evening

As part of the City of Norman’s mosquito control program, an area of the community is scheduled for spraying on Saturday after 10 p.m. The boundaries for the targeted area are Main Street on the north, Lindsey Street on the south, Classen Boulevard on the east, and Berry Road on the west.

City of Norman Awarded Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Norman by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2015.

Portions of Robinson Street to close for waterline installation

Work began today on installation of a new 30-inch waterline along Robinson Street from just east of 24th Avenue NW, under I-35, to just west of Crossroads Boulevard. Portions of Robinson Street and Legacy Trail will be closed temporarily during completion of the project.

Boardwalk Street to See New On-street Parking Restriction

During the week of June 20, City of Norman traffic control crews will be installing “No Parking” signs along the south side of Boardwalk Street, between Interstate Drive and 26th Avenue NW.

Installation of the signs was requested by property owners in the area due to safety concerns.

Mosquito control spray scheduled for Thursday evening

As part of the City of Norman’s mosquito control program, an area of the community is scheduled for spraying on Thursday after 10 p.m. The boundaries for the targeted area are Tecumseh Road on the north, Robinson Street on the south, Porter Avenue on the east, and 12th Avenue Northwest on the west.

41st Annual Westwood Invitational Golf Tournament is July 2-4

Entry Deadline is June 29

The 41st Annual Westwood Invitational Golf Tournament is July 2 through July 4. It is a 54-hole stroke play tournament with six flights: championship through fourth flight. The championship flight is open to amateurs and professionals with a two handicap and below. Each flight will be separated by handicap and handicaps will be used in the fourth flight.

North Leg of 72nd Avenue SE/ State Highway 9 East Intersection to Close Wednesday

The north leg of the 72nd Avenue SE/State Highway 9 East intersection will close tomorrow at approximately 9 a.m. to allow for grading and paving the new intersection. All other legs of the intersection will remain open. Signs will direct motorists in the area.

Jenkins to temporarily close Wednesday evening through Thursday morning

Jenkins Avenue between Lindsey Street and Stinson Street will be closed to traffic Wednesday evening at 11 p.m. and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Thursday. The one-night temporary closure allows further progress on a phase of construction of a new parking garage for the University of Oklahoma.

700 Block of Jenkins Avenue to Close Tomorrow for Repairs

City of Norman street crews will close Jenkins Avenue between Boyd Street and Duffy Street tomorrow at approximately 8 a.m., weather permitting, for repairs to the street and the curb gutter sections.

Access to residents and businesses will be maintained from Boyd Street. Barricades will be in place to direct the traveling public around the work zone.
