Public Invited to Attend Norman Election Commission Meeting Wednesday

The Norman Election Commission is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 201 West Gray Street and invites residents to attend and share their input on whether the City should to establish its own local campaign finance disclosure requirements or continue following the state regulations.

Ward meetings to provide information about upcoming special election

City Council members are hosting meetings in their wards to provide information about the stormwater utility that is on the ballot in a special election on August 23. The first of the meetings is a Ward 5 meeting Saturday at 10 a.m. in the library of Washington Irving Elementary School at 600 48th Street SE. The meeting is hosted by Ward 5 Councilman James Chappel and Mayor Lynne Miller.

North Leg of 60th Avenue SE/State Highway 9 East intersection to close Thursday

The north leg of the 60th Avenue SE/State Highway 9 East intersection will be closed temporarily beginning Thursday to allow for grading and paving the new intersection by a contractor for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).

All other legs of the intersection will remain open. Signs will direct motorists in the area.

12th Annual Citywide Garage Sale scheduled for August 5, 6 and 7

The 12th Annual Citywide Garage Sale is scheduled for August 5, 6, and 7. During the time of the citywide sale, no city garage sale permit is required.

Brooks Street to Close between Jenkins Avenue and Classen Boulevard

Weather permitting, City of Norman crews will close Brooks Street between Jenkins Avenue and Classen Boulevard to through traffic tomorrow after 7 a.m. to make significant repairs to the street and the curb gutter sections. The project is expected to be completed by August 19.

Southbound Lane of 36th Avenue to close Monday
Outside Lane to Close from Havenbrook Street to Quail Springs Drive

The outside southbound lane of 36th Avenue NW from Havenbrook Street to Quail Springs Drive will close temporarily at 8 a.m. Monday for the relocation of underground utility lines. The lane is expected to reopen Wednesday.

Berry Road from south of Barbour Street to Glenwood Street to Close Tuesday (July 5)

Berry Road from south of Barbour Street to Glenwood Street will close at 8 a.m. Tuesday for construction of two new waterlines from Main to Robinson. Warning and detour signs will be placed to assist motorists. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes such as Acres to Flood to Main to Berry or visa versa during the construction which is expected to last through approximately August 6, 2016.

2015 Consumer Confidence Report is Available

Norman water utility customers will soon receive an insert in their utilities bill with a link to the online version of the 2015 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) for the Norman Water System. The report is available at www.normanwater.com.

41st Annual Norman Day Celebration

The 41st Annual Norman Day 4th of July Celebration will take place on Monday, July 4th, at Reaves Park located north of Hwy 9 on Jenkins. Events starting at 1pm provide numerous activities for all ages, including Inflatables, Pony Rides, Putting Challenge, Corn Hole Tourney, Free Throw Contest, Nickel Find and the Baby Crawl/Toddler Trot.
