Flu Shots Available at the Little Axe Community Center on October 13

The Little Axe Community Center will host a flu shot clinic on October 13 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The community center is located at 1000 168th Avenue N.E.

Havenbrook Street between 36th Avenue NW and Branchwood Closed Due to Emergency Washout of Brookhaven Creek Bridge

Havenbrook Street between 36th Avenue NW and Branchwood Drive has been closed due to an emergency washout of the bridge at Brookhaven Creek. The damage occurred during the thunder storms last Sunday morning.

City crews are currently mobilizing for emergency repairs to the bridge structure. Additional information will be provided about the timeline for the repairs as details are finalized.

Registration Open for United Way Golf Tournament

Registration is open for the Norman Parks and Recreation United Way Golf Tournament. The 18-hole scramble for four-person teams is October 16 at Westwood Park Golf Course. The $75 per person entry fee includes the green fee, cart, range ball token, lunch and entry in the putting and chipping contest.

Berry Road Closed from north of Kansas to South of Acres to close

Berry Road from north of Kansas to south of Acres will close at 8 a.m. Monday (September 19) for the construction of two new waterlines from Main to Robinson. Warning and detour signs will be placed to assist motorists.

Lindsey Street and Berry Road Intersection to Close Wednesday

The intersection at Lindsey Street and Berry Road will close early tomorrow morning for construction of a stormwater drainage box through the intersection. The new drainage box will connect to the existing stormwater system to alleviate the flooding at Wylie Road. The intersection is expected to reopen by October 14.

Fall Clean Up Begins September 24

The City of Norman’s residential fall cleanup kicks off September 24 with curbside pickup of household items for customers who have regular cart service on Mondays. Residents should have all items out by 7:30 a.m. on their designated Saturday, and may place items at the curb up to a week before their scheduled collection day.

Registration Underway for 2016 Fall Adult Open Basketball Leagues

Registration is now underway for the Norman Parks and Recreation Department’s 2016 fall adult open basketball leagues. The deadline to register is October 7 and team registration forms are available at the 12th Avenue Recreation Center, 1701 12th Avenue NE.

Water line relocation on Wylie Road underway this week

Wylie Road between Lindsey Street and Caddell Lane was closed earlier this week as a contractor for the City of Norman began relocating portions of the water line along Wylie Road. The work will require different segments of Wylie Road to be temporarily closed as different portions of the water line relocation are completed.

Public Invited to Community Visioning Workshop

The City of Norman is hosting a Community Visioning Workshop as part of the comprehensive plan process for the city. The public is invited to attend the event which is Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Norman High School Conference Center Multipurpose Room.

Water Fountain Repairs at Legacy Park

Beginning Friday afternoon, the fountains and lighting at Legacy Park will not be operational for required repairs. Due to needed fountain repairs, the water levels in the fountain will be lowered.

The repair work is anticipated to be completed before Friday, September 16. Once completed, the fountain and lights will be repaired and fully operational.

City of Norman Comprehensive Plan Website Goes Live

A new website, www.PlanNorman.com , is now available for the public to find out additional information about the City of Norman Comprehensive Plan. The website will serve as a tool for project updates and information and serve as a platform for resident feedback and engagement.

New On-Street Parking Restriction – Both Sides of Eddington Street, West of Monnet Avenue

During the week of September 12, City Traffic Control Division crews will be installing “No Parking” signs along the north and south sides of Eddington Street, west of Monnet Avenue. This action is being taken in response to a request from residents and property owners on Eddington Street.
