Councilmember Hickman to host meeting for Ward 4 residents

Norman City Councilman Bill Hickman is hosting a meeting for residents of Ward 4 on March 7. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at city hall, 201 W. Gray.

Registration now open for I.R.C. Spelling Bee

The Irving Recreation Center is now accepting registrations from fifth grade students who attend Norman Public Schools for a community spelling bee that will be held on March 29 at 6 p.m. The spelling bee will at the recreation center, 125 Vicksburg Ave. The deadline to register for the event is March 27.

Quiet zone means no train whistles - Norman’s quiet zone goes into effect overnight Thursday

At 12:01 a.m. Friday the new quiet zone will go into effect in Norman. The BNSF Railway Company and Amtrak will begin observance of the new quiet zone with a gradual decrease of the train horns during the first 24 to 48 hours, after which the train horns will be silenced.
