City Offices Closed, Trash Service Delayed for New Year’s Holiday

The City of Norman administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. 

The City of Norman Sanitation Division will also be closed on Tuesday, Jan 1. Sanitation Collections (household trash, recycling, yard waste, and commercial service) will run one day behind the week of New Year’s beginning with Tuesday’s service:

The City of Norman administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas. 

Council approves separation agreement with City Attorney

The Norman City Council approved a separation agreement with
longtime City Attorney Jeff Bryant at a Special Session on Tuesday, December
18.

Jeffery H. Bryant was employed as an attorney for the City
of Norman for over 32 years. He served the City as the City Attorney of the
City of Norman from September of 2004 until he resigned effective February 28,
2019.

Intersection of Boyd Street and Flood Avenue to be four way stop Wednesday

The intersection of Boyd Street and Flood Avenue will be a four-way stop with stop signs from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 19 while work to replace the traffic signal controller cabinet is completed.  Drivers should plan extra travel time or locate an alternate route. This project is weather permitting.

All lanes of Main St. close at James Garner Ave. Wednesday, Thursday

All lanes of Main St. will be closed between James Garner Ave. and Jones Ave. from 7 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 through 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 for emergency repairs to the railroad infrastructure by BNSF. James Garner Ave. and Jones Ave. traffic will not be affected.

Residents invited to attend upcoming Ward Meetings

Norman residents are invited to connect with their community by attending a ward meeting to discuss important local issues with their councilmembers. There are currently two meetings scheduled for the upcoming week.

Winter weather expected, preparations underway

Residents are encouraged to stay alert to the potential for winter weather this weekend. At this time the National Weather Service reports the system that will be affecting the Norman area appears to be slowing down and losing intensity from previous predictions.

Winterfest @Legacy Park moved to December 14, Santa’s Calling still available

Winterfest at Legacy Park has been postponed in anticipation of inclement weather. Residents can plan to lift their holiday spirits with music and family-friendly fun at Winterfest @Legacy Park, 1898 Legacy Park Drive at University North Park, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.
