Boyd Street between Elm Avenue and east of University reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Monday
Boyd Street, from Elm Avenue to just east of University Blvd, will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Monday for the next phase of the annual sewer maintenance project. Sewer replacement in this segment of Boyd should be complete by May 5, if weather cooperates.
All traffic in both directions will be directed into the two northern lanes of Boyd Street. Motorists will not be able to turn left on westbound Boyd at either University or Elm.
Traffic control devices will be in place to direct motorists though the work zone.
Questions can be directed to Charlie Thomas, project manager, 366-5443. The contractor for Norman Utilities Authority is Urban Contractors of Oklahoma City.
The Sewer Maintenance Project is an annual $2.2 million sewer replacement project. It is funded by the $5/month sewer maintenance fee paid by utility customers, as approved by voters in 2001. The project replaces old damaged sewer lines and manholes in the project area. The total project is scheduled to be complete by May of this year.
