City of Norman receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

For the 26th consecutive year, the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Norman by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

According to the GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement represents a “significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”

The City of Norman’s 2016 comprehensive annual financial report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.

The GFOA is a major professional association serving the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
