Main Street Repaving Project resumes Monday
The Main Street Pavement Repair Project will resume Monday with the repair of the concrete between Park Drive and Flood Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The project is schedule to be complete in May, weather permitting.
The deteriorated portions of the existing concrete pavement are removed and replaced with new concrete to improve the ride quality and traffic safety on Main Street as well as to extend the life of the pavement.
This project is part of the City’s Street Maintenance Bond Program authorized by Norman voters in March 2010. Repairs to the existing concrete pavement on Main Street have been under way for over two years, in phases, between 48th Avenue SW and Downtown Norman (Park Drive).
This project will complete the planned pavement improvements on Main Street with the exception of the upcoming Main Street Enhancement Project located between Park Drive and Porter Avenue. The first phase of the Main Street Enhancement Project, including installation of a new water main, is also scheduled to begin on Monday between Park Drive and James Garner Avenue. Pavement improvements to the asphalt pavement on Main Street between Park Drive and Porter Avenue will take place in fall 2017 or early spring 2018.
The contractor for the City of Norman for this improvement project is A-Tech Paving.
