Tradesworker (Electrician)

High school diploma or equivalent. One to two years of technical or vocational school training in commercial/industrial electrical practices or equivalent. Two to three years electrical experience commercial/industrial at a journeyman level. Motor control including variable speed drives, lighting control, and programmable control experience highly desirable. Must possess a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with airbrakes endorsement, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment and satisfactory motor vehicle record. Candidate must have a State of Oklahoma journeyman or contractors electrical license. Job Description
Duties: 
Inspects electrical installations on a commercial/industrial scale to determine malfunctions, hazards, and need for adjustments, replaces and/or repairs electrical equipment, installs new electrical equipment. Observes safety standards, specifications, and electrical codes, uses hand tools, power tools, and other equipment associated with electrical work on a commercial/industrial level. Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use or before repair or maintenance is performed. Electrician must perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed to insure reliability and function of equipment. Keeps work area clean and safe. Works in a manner safe to the individual and other people, follows safety rules, and safe work practices. Electrician must use safety equipment as required. Performs other related maintenance duties as required based on division work load.
Working Conditions: 
Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extremes of temperature, noise, and noxious fumes and odors. Exposure to hazardous situations which involve heavy machinery, hazardous chemicals, or power tools, and the possibility of electrical shock. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:

Knowledge: 
Tools, equipment, (including electrical test and location equipment) and materials used in the electrical trade for installation, repair, and maintenance. The ability to locate, price and procure, parts for repair/replacement of electrical equipment. Occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations related to respective job function.
Skills: 
Electrical installation, maintenance, and repair at an industrial/commercial level. Operation of standard equipment used in electrical work, to ascertain and repair malfunctions. Reading electrical schematics, blue prints, specifications, and plans associated with electrical construction and installation. Performs basic mathematical calculations associated with the electrical trade and construction. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to fellow employees and citizens while performing assigned tasks and duties. The ability to get along and assist fellow employees is of great importance.
License and/or Certification:

Mental & Physical: 
Analytical ability to diagnose electrical malfunctions and determine necessary repairs. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (20-50 lb.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift and carry heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
