Water Treatment Strategic Water Plan
Recent Projects Provide Energy Savings
The Norman Utilities Authority recently completed two projects at the water treatment plant that will provide energy savings for years to come. The recent front entry project provided for the replacement of two 5-ton heat and air units with one 6-ton unit. The old units had a SEER rating of 7 and were replaced with a single unit of a SEER rating of 13. Staff utilized an HVAC website to determine a calculated savings of $87,548 over the next 20 years. Additionally, the single door entry was replaced with two sets of doors (airlock vestibule), the single pane windows were replaced with insulated windows, 23 T12 light fixtures were replaced with 21 T8 light fixtures (20 years savings of $5,100), and 35 linear feet of exterior office walls were insulated.
The second project is underway and we have replaced the large 15-ton unit with a new energy efficient unit over the laboratory. The 20 year $21,619 savings is represented below.
