City of Norman Administrative Offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day on Friday, November 10, 2023. Offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, November 13, 2023.
The Sanitation Division will remain on the regular schedule during the holiday observance on Friday, November 10, 2023. All Sanitation services, including residential, yard waste, recycling and commercial, will run normal service. The Compost Facility and the Transfer Station will remain open; the Compost Facility located at 398 Bratcher Miner Road is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the Transfer Station located at 3901 S. Chautauqua is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Questions may be directed to 405-329-1023.
2023 VETERANS PARADE
The Norman Annual Parade and Ceremony to honor veterans will take place Sunday, November 12, 2023. The parade will leave from the OU Stephenson Research Technology Center, 101 David L. Boren Boulevard, at 2 p.m. and finish at Reaves Park, 2501 Jenkins Avenue. The ceremony at Reaves Park will begin at 3 p.m. and feature words from USMC Vietnam Veteran Dale K. Graham centered around “50th After Vietnam” – this year’s theme of observance.
This event is sponsored by the Veterans Committee, a group of volunteers dedicated to honoring all veterans.
The parade route includes a procession north on Jenkins Avenue, then east on Constitution, and ultimately north into the park. Drivers and pedestrians should adhere to all signage placed in the area.
