Application Deadline: December 1, 2023
NORMAN, OKLA. –Normanites may now apply to serve on subcommittees for AIM Norman, the city’s Area and Infrastructure Master Plan – a guiding document that will help shape the course of the community over the next two decades.
Discussion regarding this plan began in July 2023 and the process officially kicked off in September 2023. Distinct elements of city infrastructure, services and growth will be examined and planned for during this ongoing process, to include: Land Use, Housing Market Analysis & Affordability, Transportation, Stormwater, Parks, Water and Wastewater.
Since October, City staff and consultants have organized a multitude of outreach events and listening sessions to garner community feedback that is critical in early stages of the plan. This month, mailers were sent to residents for awareness and feedback opportunities. Community members are steadily encouraged to provide input through monthly polling questions at AimNorman.com, via email at AimNorman@normanok.gov, or through phone messages at 405.217.7797.
“We want to hear what residents believe are the most important investments we can make for the future of our community,” said Jane Hudson, Planning & Community Development Director of the City of Norman. “We want all of Norman to be involved in this process.”
Amendments to the resolution of the City Council creating an Ad Hoc Steering Committee, which subcommittees will work hand-in-hand with during this process, were passed by elected officials at the Norman City Council meeting on November 14, 2023. Per amendments, subcommittee applications have been made available; Ad Hoc Steering Committee members will approve subcommittee members and chairs collectively; and the Ad Hoc Steering Committee is now led by Inger Giuffrida, Chair, and Shavonne Evans, Co-Chair.
