Bishop Creek Bridge work to begin by ODOT in September

UPDATE, 10/24/24: Regarding this project, City of Norman staff have received the following updates from ODOT -

  • It is expected to have the eastbound outside lane closed for half the day to finish removing barrier wall on 10/25/24.
  • Beginning 10/28/24, workers will have the outside lane in both directions closed for striping of the new traffic configuration.
  • Between 10/29/24 and 10/30/24, workers will have the inside westbound lane closed to set barrier wall.
    • Upon completion of the work outlined above and through 10/31/24, workers will have the eastbound inside lane closed to set barrier wall.
  • On 11/1/24, traffic should be normalized  in the new configuration.

POSTED 8/27/24: The City of Norman has been made aware that the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) will perform bridge work on State Highway 9 to Bishop Creek Bridge, located between S. Jenkins Avenue and 12th Avenue SE, beginning 9/9/24. East- and westbound travel is expected to remain accessible during the 420-day project but motorists may experience intermittent lane closures in both directions. Motorists should drive with caution in the area and adhere to all signage or traffic control measures in place.
