City of Norman’s Meter Infrastructure Program to benefit public utility customers citywide

The City of Norman is excited to announce the launch of the City of Norman's Meter Infrastructure Program (MIP). Led by the Norman Utilities Authority, this initiative will modernize the local water metering system by enhancing water service and giving customers greater control over water usage.

Over the next two years, customers will see advanced water meters installed community-wide that wirelessly transmit usage data and service alerts to the city’s utility office. Customers will see various benefits from this upgrade, to include:

  • Customer Control and Convenience

In the future, customers will have access to an online digital portal where they can track their water usage, receive proactive notifications, and manage their accounts. These notifications can help customers stay informed about their water usage and any potential issues.

  • Timely Reads

Moving from monthly water reads to hourly water reads allows customers to have a more complete and timely look at their water usage, allowing for better management of their consumption patterns.

  • Sustainability Support

Remote meter reading reduces the need for utility vehicle trips, cutting down on carbon emissions. Additionally, digital tools to become available as part of this initiative will help both customers and the City conserve water and reduce costs.

In the near future, customers will receive a letter in the mail detailing the upgrade process. The upgrade process entails representatives from Utiliuse, the city’s authorized project contractor, carrying out installations. Review further details, Frequently-Asked-Questions, or an overview video at www.Normanok.gov/MIP.

The City of Norman looks forward to enhancing your customer service experience.
