Event hosted through the City of Norman Office of Diversity & Equity
The City of Norman will host a Community & Conversation event to encourage involvement through dialogue and awareness regarding diversity and equity from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Norman Public Library Central. The event is hosted by the Office of Diversity & Equity and is free for all to attend.
“Being informed and having two-way dialogue is critical to ensuring the services and programming provided by the City of Norman addresses the community in ways which are meaningful and effective,” said Cinthya Allen, Chief Diversity & Equity Officer. “This event is the first of a series, with the goal of continuing open dialogue and broad community engagement.”
Allen has taken lead on specific efforts to drive forward the City of Norman’s mission of building an inclusive community since stepping into her position in January 2021, she said, such as launching the first City of Norman-hosted Juneteenth Celebration and creating municipal Employee Research Groups to strengthen the workforce and bridge community relations. Citizens will have the opportunity to learn more about the division’s programs, goals and initiatives, which are designed to create new opportunities at both the organizational and community-wide level, during the event.
