Enchanting holiday events planned for the community this season in Norman

The City of Norman Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce a series of enchanting holiday events that promise to spread joy and warmth throughout the community this December.

 

COMMUNITY TREE LIGHTING - 201 W. DAWS STREET

On December 8th, the Andrews Park Community Tree Lighting event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Join in on the fun at the Andrews Park stage to immerse yourself in cheerful holiday music, sip on delicious hot cocoa, and take part in the annual tree lighting ceremony. The festivities will continue at 6 p.m. with caroling, offering activities such as crafts, story time, treats and entertainment. This heartwarming celebration is open to the community, and all are invited to enjoy a festive and joyous atmosphere.

 

WINTERFEST EVENT - 1898 LEGACY PARK DRIVE

Winterfest at Legacy Park is set for December 9th, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature live and festive music by "Talk of the Town." Families can also capture the joy of the season with photos with Santa, indulge in adult beverages to stay warm, savor delicious hot cocoa, and anticipate the highlight of the night — a fireworks extravaganza at 7 p.m. Winterfest aims to create a magical atmosphere, embracing the warmth of community and the spirit of the holidays.

 

UGLY SWEATER RUN - 1898 LEGACY PARK DRIVE

On December 10th, the Ugly Sweater Run will take place at 9 a.m. at Legacy Park. Participants are invited to join the festive and fun 3K run, showcasing their most creatively ugly sweaters. The event promises exciting prizes for the Best Individual Ugly Sweater and Best Team or Family Ugly Sweater. Registration is open, and individuals are encouraged to register early to secure their spot for a day filled with laughter, joy, and holiday spirit. SANTA'S NIGHT OUT - 1701 12TH AVENUE NE

Need some extra time to finish your Christmas shopping? Drop the kids off for Santa's Night Out! On December 11th from 6-9 p.m., kids are welcome at the 12th Avenue Recreation Center for a fun night hosted by the Norman Parks & Recreation team. Food, drinks and plenty of fun activities will be provided. The fee is $15 per child. Call 405.292.7275 for more information.
