The Norman Police Department responded to a report of an overdose at approximately 11:33 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that a female adult had taken an opiate and was unconscious and not breathing.
Officers arrived on scene within two minutes locating the female who remained unresponsive and was not breathing inside the residence. Officers performed life saving measures by administering CPR and NARCAN, which revived the female.
A few minutes later, EMSSTAT arrived to provide further treatment to the female before transporting her to a local hospital. The incident was the result of an accidental overdose.
All Norman police officers are trained and equipped to administer NARCAN. The program began in 2017.
