Residents encouraged to celebrate Spring & Green Norman Eco Month
Festivities of Green Norman Eco Month will jump off a bit early this year, as community members and City staff join forces to extend the conversation and action around environmental quality and sustainability. A lineup of environment-centered events kicks off March 17, to include a Styrofoam Collection Event, Residential Spring Cleanup and Earth Day Festival. Check out dates and details below.
MARCH 17: BUGFEST
Norman Central Library, 103 W. Acres Street
- 9 a.m. – Noon
Experience insects up close at this fun come-and-go event, sponsored by the OSU Extension and Friends of the Norman Public Library.
MARCH 19: STYROFOAM COLLECTION EVENT & OPEN HOUSE
Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 3803 Chautauqua
- 1-3 p.m. – Styrofoam collection
- 3-4 p.m. – Household Hazardous Waste Facility Tours
- 4-5 p.m. – Street Right of Way Cleanup

APRIL 13: “COMPOSTING – TRASH TO TREASURE”

Discuss the benefits of composting with professionals and learn tips to do it at home.
APRIL 16: GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP – PRAIRIE CREEK CLEANUP AND POLLINATOR GARDEN PLANTING
Prairie Creek Park, 2025 Pendleton Drive
- 10:00 AM to Noon

APRIL 24: EARTH DAY FESTIVAL

Family-friendly event, complete with fun activities, food, demonstrations, performances, vendors and great information for all ages.
APRIL 30: E-WASTE COLLECTION EVENT
Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 615 E. Robinson Street
- 9 a.m. – Noon
Participants will enter the fairgrounds from Robinson and exit onto Porter. Open to Cleveland County residents only. Please bring proof of residency. Accepted items: Televisions, printers, copiers/scanners, fax machines, laptops, tablets, iPods, MP3 Players, Audio/Video equipment, PC speakers, keyboards, VCR/DVD/CD players, modems and hard drives, cell phones, telephones, computer monitors.
MAY 7: WATERSHED CLEANUP EVENT
