The Norman Police Department (NPD) responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Oak Tree Avenue at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 22. Once on scene, officers were able to locate one 21-year-old male victim and determine a second five-year-old victim was already on their way to a local hospital. The suspect was also no longer on scene.
The initial investigation indicates that the suspect, later determined to be 27-year-old Demarcus Green (DOB: 5/24/1996), was involved in a verbal argument with the mother of his four children on the ground level of the apartment building. The 21-year-old male victim attempted to intervene. Green retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot at the 21-year-old male striking him twice. One shot also accidentally hit Green’s five-year-old daughter in the leg.
The 21-year-old male was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Green and the mother of his children took the five-year-old victim and drove to a local hospital. Green was arrested at the hospital and later booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on one complaint of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one complaint of Reckless Conduct with a Firearm.
The incident remains under investigation by the NPD Criminal Investigations Division.
