The Norman Police Department responded to a report of a collision in the 11000 block of Highway 9 at approximately 1:14 a.m. on October 23. Once on scene, officers located three vehicles that were involved in a collision with a bison.

The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 9 when it collided with a bison standing in the westbound lane. A second vehicle also traveling westbound departed the roadway, going into the ditch to avoid the animal. The animal continued into the eastbound lane where it was struck by another vehicle.

Minor injuries were reported by the occupants of the vehicles. The bison died as a result of the collision.
