The Norman Police Department responded to a report of a critical injury collision on 12th Avenue NE just south of Indian Hills Road at approximately 7:04 p.m. Wednesday. The preliminary investigation into the collision indicates that a Jeep SUV traveling southbound on 12th Avenue NE crossed left of center and struck a Ford Ranger traveling northbound.

The driver of southbound vehicle has been identified as 31-year-old Cameron Gordon of Norman. Gordon was determined to be impaired at the time of the collision. Gordon was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on a complaint of Manslaughter in the First Degree.

The driver of the northbound vehicle died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Identification of the driver is pending next of kin notification.

A portion of 12th Avenue NE between Indian Hills Road and Franklin Road was closed for approximately five hours while the scene was investigated. The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team.
