The Norman Police Department was patrolling in the area of 12th Avenue SE and E. Lindsey Street at approximately 2 a.m. Friday (May 6) when an officer witnessed a vehicle driving recklessly. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 2900 block of E. Alameda Street.
Once in contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, officers noticed the driver to have red, watery eyes, thick slurred speech and an odor commonly associated with an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.
After completing Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST), the driver was arrested and booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center for driving under the influence.
The driver was identified as 39-year-old Joshua Hard (DOB: 11/12/1982). Hard is currently employed as a police officer with the Norman Police Department. Hard is currently on administrative assignment pending an active internal investigation.
