The City of Norman has one of the highest recycling participation rates in the country and we appreciate everyone’s efforts. Unfortunately, a pamphlet was distributed with a recent utility bill with an error that indicated that cardboard should be placed under the recycling poly cart. Cardboard, along with all other accepted recyclable materials, should be fully contained within the poly cart and should not be placed on the ground. By not having drivers leave their trucks during their routes, recycling pickups can be accomplished more efficiently and safely.
Larger boxes can be cut down to fit freely inside the cart. If unable to fit boxes in the poly cart, large cardboard boxes can still be broken down and taken to one of the four City of Norman recycle drop off centers. These centers are located at:
- Hollywood Recycle Center - McGee and Lindsey
- Westwood Recycle Center - 2430 Westport Drive
- Fire Station #9 Recycle Center – 3001 E. Alameda
- Transfer Station Recycle Center – 3901 S. Chautauqua
We apologize for this confusion and look forward to continued, successful recycling for the City of Norman.
Good Job Norman! Let’s keep it going!
