Construction work impacting the recycling drop-off center at the City of Norman Transfer Station has been completed and this location is again open for use by our citizens.  The concrete drive access to the recycling area was reconstructed last week from the newly completed main drive access for the Transfer Station.  Recycling is again available at all four recycling drop-off centers:

• Hollywood Recycle Center - McGee and Lindsey
• Westwood Recycle Center - 2430 Westport Drive 
• Fire Station #9 Recycle Center – 3001 E. Alameda
• Transfer Station – 3901 Chautauqua

The City of Norman/Norman Municipal Authority awarded Contract K-2021-10 to the Landmark Construction Group for the construction of a new Household Hazardous Waste Facility and a new Container Maintenance Facility.  The new Household Hazardous Waste Facility along with improvements to the Transfer Station site at 3900 Chautauqua Avenue has a construction cost of $1,396,000 and will provide a year-round location for residents to dispose of household items and chemicals that are not able to be disposed through normal trash service or the sewer.  The Container Maintenance Facility, to be constructed at 3440 S Jenkins, has a construction cost of $931,000 and will provide a safer, more efficient workspace for the rehabilitation of dumpsters used for solid waste which will extend the life of solid waste dumpsters ultimately resulting in reduced operating costs for the Sanitation Division of the Utilities Department.
