The City of Norman’s residential spring cleanup kicks off on Saturday, April 3 with curbside pickup of household items for customers who have regular polycart service on Mondays. Residents should have all items out by 7:30 a.m. on the day of their collection. The schedule is:

• April 3 – Residents with Monday polycart service
• April 10 – Residents with Tuesday polycart service
• April 17 – Residents with Wednesday polycart service
• April 24 – Residents with Thursday polycart service
• May 1 – Residents with Friday polycart service

Items that can be collected include household items such as couches, chairs, mattresses and box springs, boxes or bags of clothing, planters and pots, washers and dryers, lawn mowers with no oil or gas, small sections of fencing that have been cut in half, grills, outdoor furniture and carpet remnants. Rolls of carpet cannot be collected.

Items should not be placed in trash carts, wagons or wheelbarrows.

Items that are not available for collection during the spring cleanup include remodeling or demolition debris such as bricks, lumber, sheetrock, concrete or shingles. Junk cars or any hazardous waste such as tires, batteries, paint and electronic waste also cannot be collected.

Any items containing Freon must have the Freon properly captured by a certified technician and be identified with the proper tag for Freon removal.

Yard waste cannot be accepted during the spring cleanup but may be taken to the Compost Facility if it meets size requirements. The Compost Facility is located at 398 Bratcher-Miner Road. Larger limbs and tree trunks can be taken to the Transfer Station at 3901 S. Chautauqua.

Items can be placed at the curb up to a week in advance of the collection day. Items placed at the curb more than one week in advance may be subject to city code violations.

There will also be containers set up to dispose of items on April 24 and 25 at the American Legion at 156th and SH-9. This location is for residents with city trash services, and customers will need to show proof of residency with a City of Norman trash bill or current driver’s license.

Residents who prefer to haul their own household items during spring cleanup can take them to the Transfer Station. The Transfer Station will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and free on these Saturdays for any Norman sanitation customer who shows a current utility bill.
