Area residents interested in getting hands-on experience with historic wood window repair may register for a 2-day Wood Window Workshop. The event is coordinated by the City of Norman and Old Home Rescue, in coordination with the Moore-Lindsay Historical House Museum. It will take place at the museum, 508 N. Peters Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 18 and 19, 2024. Pre-registration is required and the pre-registration deadline is May 16. Click here to register or learn more.

Registrants can expect to gain the skills needed to repair, restore, and maintain historic wood windows. The workshop includes hands-on practice of repair skills like unsticking windows, cutting glass, putty glazing, epoxy paint removal, painting wood windows, weatherstripping, and hardware adjustments. Lessons on restoration safety, window maintenance and window efficiency will also be covered.

The $50 registration fee will cover a light breakfast, lunch, and bottled water for both days. Seating is limited. Participants will be working mainly outside and should wear weather-appropriate and work-safe clothing.  Attendees will need to bring their own N95 mask, work gloves and safety glasses.
