Salary: $15.95 per hour
Shift: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon shift.

Job Description

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019.   This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

Education and Experience:  Ability to understand, follow and/or provide verbal and written instructions or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:  Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Selected applicant must obtain Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with air brakes, within one (1) year of employment.

Knowledge:  Hand and power tools.  Maintenance and construction work.  

Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and citizens while performing duties. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  Performs janitorial duties.  Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors, dusts, cleans bathrooms, and empties trash containers.  Assists with the striping and marking of streets.  Installs new traffic signs; maintains existing traffic signs.  Assists with temporary traffic control for special events, worksites, and emergencies; operates posthole digger to install new signs. Assists with the collection of data for traffic studies.  Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use.  Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.  Works in a manner safe to the individual and public.  Keeps work area clean and safe.  Follows safety rules.  Uses safety equipment as required. Performs related duties as required.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors.  Exposure to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, upgraded terrain at construction sites, and moving vehicles on roadways.  On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.

Mental and Physical Abilities:  Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) and heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and debris frequently.  Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.  Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
