Salary: $20.26 - $30.30 per hour (Non-Exempt)
Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday (Weekends, holiday and after hours may be required)

Maintenance Worker II - Traffic

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019.   This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

Education and Experience:  One to two years maintenance experience in Traffic Control or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Ability to understand written instructions and construction procedures. 

Licenses and Certifications:  Valid Oklahoma CDL Class B or must be able to obtain within the first six months and must have a satisfactory driving record.  ATSSA or OTEA Work Zone Certification. 

Knowledge:  Tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in Traffic Control.  Occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations including work zone safety. 

Skills: Operation of standard equipment used in Traffic Control.  Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and citizens while performing duties. 

Essential Functions:  Install and maintains permanent and temporary traffic control signing and pavement markings.  Assists with sign fabrication, parking meter/pay station maintenance, and traffic study assignments, and, as needed, can assist with traffic signal maintenance.  Installs and maintains traffic control devices for temporary work sites, emergencies, and special events. Performs lead worker duties. Follows the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices to ensure correct installation and maintenance of traffic control devices.  Safely operates and maintains necessary tools and equipment.  Performs janitorial duties. Maintains written and electronic records and documents for equipment maintenance, inventory, installation, and maintenance work logs.  Works in a manner safe to the individual and to other people; follows safe work practices; and uses appropriate safety equipment as required.  Performs other related duties as required.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) and heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and debris frequently.  Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.  Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance. 

Working Conditions:   Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors.  Exposed to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, upgraded terrain at construction sites, and moving vehicles on roadways.  On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
