New smell or taste in water may be experienced in areas of Norman

Enhanced disinfection treatment may result in a bleach-like smell or taste in tap water, primarily in North Norman. Residents are assured that all drinking water is safe to consume and utilize in all home and business activities. This new development is the result of recently introduced well water treatment systems that have been put into place to comply with mandates set forth by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). In accordance with drinking water standards, up to 4 parts per million will be dosed to provide a chlorine residual.
