Minor impacts or delays expected during transition process
Through strategic layout and upgraded capabilities at the City of Norman’s Development Center, individuals conducting business with City staff can look forward to enhanced service experiences. The center, located within the Municipal Complex at 225 N. Webster Avenue, is set to house the departments of Utilities, Parks & Recreation, Finance, Public Works and Planning & Community Development.
The facility will function as a “one-stop shop” to make building and development processes more efficient, while creating a common space for departments that may share joint tasks in certain business elements.
A grand opening of the facility is tentatively scheduled for January 27, 2023. As event plans are solidified, additional information will be disseminated to the community on this event.
Staff members will begin transitioning into the Development Center the first week of January. Due to the move, minor disruptions to service may occur January 4-6, 2023. The City of Norman appreciates the patience and flexibility of residents and business owners as this transition occurs. Wayfinding signage will be set up during the process. Note the following:
- Utility account services are not expected to be impacted. Water bill payment and utility service arrangement will continue to occur in Building C for customers through January 6, 2023. On January 9, 2023, these services will be carried out by City staff in the new Development Center.
- City customers are also advised that issuance of building permits and associated payment activities for permits will cease in Building A on Tuesday evening, January 3, 2023. Beginning 8 a.m., January 4, 2023, customers needing to submit applications, pay fees and pick up permits need to do so in the new Development Center located at 225 N. Webster Avenue.
