The self-serve oil disposal bin located east of Norman’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 3803 Chautauqua Avenue, has been closed and will remain closed through the week of 12/4/23. Unsolicited content was placed in the bin, impeding routine disposal methods by staff and causing the closure.
In the interim, residents are encouraged to explore additional safe routes of oil disposal at automotive service businesses or centers. The City of Norman’s self-serve bins for large electrical appliances or “white goods,” as well as tires, glass and scrap metal in the same area will remain open. They are available 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
Responsible waste disposal is encouraged and offered at no cost in most instances to Norman residents. Norman offers: residential solid waste collection, commercial solid waste collection, recycling curbside and via local centers, yard waste collection, seasonal cleanup events, transfer station drop-off services, household hazardous waste disposal, self-serve bin disposal for various items, and free compost through the city’s compost facility.
