Norman Animal Welfare has numerous ways for you to help our center and the city's homeless animals.
Ways to Get Involved
Donate
A donation to Norman Animal Welfare helps us to serve and find permanent homes for thousands of animals each year.
Norman Animal Welfare maintains a wish list of needed items. You can donate items from this list at the Norman Animal Welfare Center during business hours or you can shop the list online and have the items shipped to the center directly.
Animal lovers can also donate a Kuranda Shelter Dog Bed to a lucky animal at the Norman Animal Welfare Center.
Monetary donations can be made in-person at the Norman Animal Welfare Center or by mail. Monetary donations can be sent by mail to Norman Animal Welfare, 3428 Jenkins Avenue, Norman, OK 73072. Please only send a check or money order.
Volunteer
Volunteers are an integral part of Norman Animal Welfare assisting staff with everything from animal care to outreach to administrative tasks.
Citizens wishing to volunteer with Norman Animal Welfare must complete the volunteer orientation before submitting an application. Orientations will be held on multiple dates each month. The sign up for upcoming dates can be found here. All volunteers are subject to a background check depending on the area or task assigned. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. (Younger persons age 14 or older may volunteer if accompanied by an adult who has also completed the NAW volunteer application and orientation). If you have any further questions about Norman Animal Welfare’s Volunteer program, you can email Ashley.Battiest@normanok.gov.
Foster an Animal
Fostering saves the lives of cats and dogs each day, while allowing you the chance to share your home with wonderful animals. By fostering an animal, you teach these animals to co-exist with others peacefully and happily. Fosters provide animals important training in a relaxing environment, which then makes these cats and dogs more ready for adoption. As you become familiar with foster animals as temporary members of your family, you will learn more about their personalities and gain important information that you can share with potential adopting families.
Norman Animal Welfare provides all of the supplies you need to foster a cat or dog.
